A child’s drawing of a girl with a giant round head, made real with yarn hair and a yellow dress in a sunny garden, printed as a framed canvas in a natural wood frame

Turn your child’s drawing into real life

Photograph their drawing and get the character back three ways: as if it were real, as a still from an animated film, and as a handmade plush toy. Everything they drew stays, so a giant head stays giant. Then print the one you love on a puzzle, a canvas or a blanket.

From $29 · free US shipping

You see all three versions free, watermarked, before anything prints.

One drawing, made real three ways

Each drawing comes back three ways at once, and you pick the one you love. What they drew is what you get: the head as big, the arms as thin, the colors their own.

What made real means

A free AI converter will happily tidy a drawing up into something it was never meant to be. This does the opposite: it builds the character the child designed, oddities and all, and keeps the setting they drew. It is kids’ drawings brought to life, not redrawn by a grown-up.

Real Life
As if the character truly exists and was photographed: real fabric, hair and skin, natural light, a soft background.
Animated Film
A still from a big-budget 3D animated film: soft cinematic light, richly sculpted, warm.
Plush Toy
A handmade felt-and-fleece plush with yarn hair and visible stitching, on a shelf in a sunny bedroom. A picture of the toy, printed.
What stays
The shape as drawn: head-to-body size, every eye, arm and leg, the hair, the clothes, the pose and their colors.
What prints
Only the version you choose. The drawing itself never goes on the product.

Printed on the things they actually use

Choose the version first, then what it prints on. Free US shipping, the digital file free with every printed order, and if it arrives damaged we reprint it free.

All their characters in one world

Add up to 8 of their drawings, and a photo of your child if you want them in the picture. Every character comes to life together in three worlds: a sunny garden, their bedroom at midnight with the characters glowing, and a giant pop-up book. With a photo, your child stands in the middle hugging one.

Bring their drawings together

From the fridge to the wall in four steps

  1. Photograph the drawing

Lay it flat in good light and take a photo with your phone. Any paper, any pens, any age.

  2. Crop it to the paper

Draw a box around the drawing so the table, the shadows and your fingers stay out.

  3. Pick your favorite

All three versions come back together, watermarked and free, usually within a couple of minutes. Nothing prints until you approve one.

  4. Choose what it prints on

A jigsaw puzzle, a canvas, a framed canvas, a fleece blanket or a Christmas ornament, or just the file. We print it in the US and ship it free.

Drawing questions

Anything else, write to hello@thecuriousthing.com.

Is the drawing itself printed on the product?

No. What prints is the made-real picture you choose, on its own, filling the puzzle, canvas or blanket. The drawing stays the drawing: on the fridge, in the memory box, wherever it lives now.

Does it change what my child drew?

It keeps it. The character is built the way it was drawn: the same head-to-body size, the same number of eyes, arms and legs, the same hair, clothes and pose, and the colors they chose. A giant head stays giant and stick arms stay thin. Whatever they drew around the character becomes the setting; with no background, it lands somewhere simple and everyday, like a garden or a cozy room.

Can it turn a drawing into a real person?

Yes. A drawing of a person, whether it is Mom, a best friend or themselves, comes back in the Real Life version as a real-looking person built exactly as drawn, so a stick-thin body stays stick-thin. It is the character from the drawing, not a likeness of anyone real. To put your actual child in the picture, make a world from their drawings and add a photo of them: they are added from the photo, standing among the characters they drew.

Is the Plush Toy version a real stuffed animal?

No. Plush Toy is a picture of the character as a handmade felt-and-fleece toy, printed like the other two versions. We do not sew toys.

How many drawings can I use?

One drawing gives you its three versions. For the worlds, add up to 8 drawings, and a photo of your child if you want them in the picture: every character comes to life together in three different worlds.

What kind of photo of the drawing works best?

A flat, well-lit phone photo with the whole drawing in it. Pencil, crayon, marker and paint all work, on white or colored paper. You crop the photo to the drawing before you send it, so the table and your fingers stay out.

How much does it cost?

Seeing the versions is free. A printed jigsaw puzzle starts at $59, a canvas at $59, a framed canvas at $79, a fleece blanket at $59 and a Christmas ornament at $29, all with free US shipping. The high-resolution file alone is $5, and it comes free with any printed order.

What happens to the photos I upload?

They are deleted within 24 hours and never used to train AI models. There is no name field, so no child’s name is ever sent to the image model.
