Hi, We're Steve and Dasha
The Curious Thing is the two of us. Steve builds and runs the software, the print pipeline, and the orders. Dasha writes the blog and shapes how each world looks and reads. That is the entire company, which is why the person who answers your email is one of the two people in this photo.
We're not a marketplace and we're not reselling somebody else's catalog. Every world, every art style, and every pet persona in this shop is one the two of us wrote, generated, and put through the same proof we show you. The ones that didn't survive that never shipped.
We also made a decision early that costs us money, and we'd make it again: nothing prints until you've seen it and said yes. The rest of this page is really just what that decision turned into.

What We Make
It started as a custom photo puzzle for kids, and that's still what most people come to us for. It isn't the only thing we make now. The same portrait can become a jigsaw, a gallery canvas, framed wall art, or a fleece blanket, and the star of it can be your child, your dog or cat, or everyone in the house at once. One line doesn't start from a photo at all: send us a child's own drawing and we'll stitch it in real thread onto a t-shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie.
Every physical order includes the digital file too, so you keep the artwork whether or not you ever print it again.
Nothing Prints Until You Say Yes
This is the part we care about most, and it's the reason the business is built the way it is. After you upload a photo, we paint your subject into the world you picked and show you the finished image as a watermarked proof. If the first take isn't right, try another one.
Your order only reaches the printer once you've approved a specific proof and completed payment. Both, in either order. A proof you never approve never becomes a package, and that's by design rather than by policy.
Your Child's Photo, Handled Carefully
Because this starts with a photo of someone you love, privacy is designed in rather than bolted on. The original photo you upload is permanently deleted within 24 hours of fulfillment. Your child's name never goes into the image generation at all, only a description of what they look like.
We never train AI models on your images, we never sell your data, and we never put a customer's child in our own marketing without separate, written permission. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Made to Order in the USA
Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for a buyer. Each piece is printed after you order it, by an established US print partner, and shipped inside the United States with free standard shipping. Most orders arrive within 5–10 business days. Puzzles run from a chunky size built for small hands up to a collector's count for older kids, and the wall art and blankets have their own size ladders.
