An AI-generated photo gift is a physical object printed from artwork that an image model made out of a photo you already own. It is not a photo print and it is not a filter. Which Parts Are AI, and Which Parts Are Not?

You pick the photo. One clear, front-facing picture where the face is easy to see, with no sunglasses and no hat brim shading the eyes. A phone photo is fine, and a recent one usually beats an older, better-composed one. This is the only creative decision that changes the result much, and it is yours.

The AI repaints the scene around the face. It runs as an image edit rather than a fresh generation, conditioned on the photo you uploaded, which is why the face carries through instead of being approximated from a description of it. The world, the costume and the light are invented; the person is not. It takes about a minute, and your child's name is never sent to the model, which works from appearance alone.

You judge it. The portrait comes back watermarked and it is yours to accept or reject. If the first one is not right, re-roll it. Nothing has been printed and nothing has been charged at this point, and that order of operations is the point.

You choose what it becomes. Puzzle, canvas, framed canvas, blanket, or just the file. This decision comes last, once you have seen how the portrait actually turned out, rather than first as a product you are hoping will work.

The AI enlarges it for print. The portrait is generated at 1024 × 1280 pixels and our print areas run from 7 to 76 megapixels, so it has to be enlarged a long way. We use a restoration upscaler rather than a generative one, deliberately: generative upscalers redraw what they enlarge, and redrawing a child's face means changing whose face it is. This one sharpens what is already there and invents nothing.

A print shop prints it. Made to order in the United States, then cut, boxed and shipped. Nothing is manufactured before somebody asks for it, which is why a one-off costs what a print run normally would and why it takes days rather than coming off a shelf.
The two model steps do different jobs and were chosen for different reasons. The repaint runs on OpenAI's gpt-image-2, as an edit rather than a generation, so the likeness comes from your photograph rather than from a description of it. The enlargement runs on Topaz High Fidelity V2, a restoration model, picked over the generative upscalers precisely because it will not invent detail on a face.
What the AI Does Not Do
The interesting part of an honest answer is usually the limits, and this category is full of pages that skip them.
- It does not learn from your photo. Customer photos are never used to train AI models, and the photo you upload is deleted within 24 hours of fulfillment.
- It never sees a name. The instruction sent to the model carries appearance only. A child’s name is not part of it.
- It does not send anything to a printer. No print job exists until you have approved the proof and payment has cleared. Both, in either order, with no exceptions.

A person did write the description of each world that the model works from, and a print shop in the United States makes the physical object, but nobody sits down with a brush. That is exactly why a one-off portrait is affordable and arrives in days.
Can people tell it was made with AI? +
They can tell it is illustrated rather than photographed, which is the point. What they react to is recognising the face: the child, the dog or the family in the picture is unmistakably the real one. In practice the box gets opened twice, once for the object and again when somebody works out who is in it.
What if the first portrait is not right? +
Re-roll it. The first two re-rolls are free and nothing has been charged or printed at that stage. Image models miss sometimes, which is the reason the proof comes first rather than a policy bolted on afterwards.
Who owns the AI-generated image? +
You keep ownership of the photo you upload, and you grant us a limited, revocable licence to use it solely to generate your portrait and fulfill your order. The finished personalized image is yours for your own personal, non-commercial use. We will not use your photos or your finished images in our own marketing without your separate written consent.
Is it safe to upload a photo of my child? +
